AI moves fast
You decide the direction

As a specialist in digital innovation with classroom experience I help schools to
- Take a position on AI
- Write the policy that upholds it
- Turn it into training for the people who use it
Be the one others follow

Decide early and you set the terms everyone else inherits. Wait, and you inherit someone else’s. That choice is still open, for now...
Your learners started using AI ages ago. Your staff use it too, maybe quietly. Parents are asking what your position is.
Is your answer that there isn’t one yet?
Start here by developing a policy to guide AI use in your school
Train teachers to work with the guidelines in their daily teaching and learning
Explain the policy to parents and guardians and highlight how it affects their children

A success cascade in action
Nobody can act on a position not yet taken
Here's how to set the terms for AI use in your school
Where you stand on AI
A free 30-minute conversation about AI on the ground in your school.
- A short written summary
- Where to start with three things worth doing first
In three weeks I write you a policy you can adopt.
Your AI policy
- Usage rules for staff and learners
- Managing AI in assessment
- Consequences of misuse
- Integration into existing conduct rules

Equip your staff
Prepare your people on the ground: train the teachers.
- Overview of the policy
- What is allowed and what isn't
- Use in the classroom and beyond
- Identifying and addressing detection
- Managing misuse
- Benefits for teaching and learning

What makes a good AI user?
A practical session on using AI well rather than banning or fearing it. Bespoke online or in person for learners, teachers, leadership or parents.
Been here before?
A leadership session that compares AI with other technological developments, so you can tell what genuinely matters from what is being oversold.

Answer the parents
A parent evening that answers the question parents are already asking, in your own voice and with your policy behind it.
- Information on the guiding principles of the policy
- How it affects their children
- Why they can feel confident in your school's approach to innovation and change

I have spent years inside schools as an English teacher and an innovator, teaching communication and digital citizenship, developing policy and managing online safety through every wave of change. I know which parts last.

Déjà vu?
I’ll bet that somewhere in your school there’s a storeroom containing an interactive whiteboard that ended up being used as a screen, a set of tablets that became a charging and breakage problem, a robotics kit still in its box and a login to a platform that maybe four people ever used.
Every one of them promised to transform teaching. Most were solutions in search of a problem.
You tried some, and then a pandemic forced the lot on everyone at once with no time to think. Some genuinely mattered and are still in daily use. Plenty is in the storeroom.
The difference was never how good the technology was. It was whether anyone named the need before the tool arrived. As someone on the inside who has seen wave after wave of abandoned solutions, guiding learners, parents and teachers is the part I can help with.

Some of this really is new
Three things about AI are genuinely unlike the waves that came before it
It did not wait for you to adopt it
Platforms needed schools to sign up, and tools needed a budget and a rollout plan. AI arrived through your learners’ phones without permission, it was already in use before most schools had discussed it.
It lands on assessment, which is where schools are most exposed
Previous technologies changed how content was delivered. This one changes how you know what a child can actually do. That is a harder problem that can’t be solved by a detection tool.
It moves fast enough that a policy can date within a term
Anything built around a specific app or a specific prohibition will need rewriting by next term. Anything built around principles remains evergreen.
